New Beginnings

Hi All,

I chose to start this blog because I enjoy writing. It has been laid on my heart to start writing again and I wanted to hopefully help or encourage someone in the process. I plan to post a weekly blog since I am just starting off. I hope to encourage people while doing something I love.

Can You Be Faithful With The Little Things?

This topic has been on my mind for a while now but I’ve never written on it. It seems that we are always praying to God for more and for increase. We always want something better. We want a better house, better job, better car, or maybe even better friends. We are always asking God for more. More money, more time, more influence. Not saying there is anything wrong with asking God for increase because it certainly is not. But, before you ask God for increase, I want you to ask yourself one question. What are you doing with the things God has already given you? Are you asking God for more money and you can’t even pay your tithes. Do you want a new job but you can’t even get to your current job on time. Why would God give you more to misuse? God is not gonna give you more money when you are not even honoring him with the little that you already have. Why would God give you a better car when you won’t even keep the one you have clean? Why would God take you to the next level in your career when all you do is sit at work and complain and slack off. And we could all make excuses why we do these things. You could say oh I am always late because of traffic or my kids move slow in the morning. Well, have you considered leaving home earlier or rearranging some things? God wants us to give our best and for everyone this is different. Just ask yourself the next time you are waiting on a blessing that seems to be taking too long, this could be blocking it. God will never give you more resources to misuse. Once God sees that he can trust you will small things, he will trust you with much more. Remember, in order to get to your promise land, you must be faithful in the wilderness.

Patience…

Does anyone else besides me struggle with patience? We seem to have God on a time frame and we want him to move when we want him to move. When we pray for something we expect it to happen right then. It’s almost as if we get up off of our knees and expect everything to change right then and there. Yes sometimes God does answer our prayers quickly but other times he makes us wait. Anytime God is making us wait, it is always for a reason. In most cases after the wait, greater joy than we could ever imagine will follow. But in order to get to this joy we have to wait on God and be patient. We expect God to be so patient with us but we get upset when he doesn’t move as quickly as we want him to. We have plenty of bad habits we won’t put down and we know God is asking us to buy yet we take our time and expect God to be patient and understanding with us. Yet, when we pray to God for something we get upset and rush him. Unlike us, he is not just dragging his feet, he is making sure everything is in line before he releases our blessing because everything God does is perfect. Maybe you’ve been praying for a new job, an increase in your finances, a significant other, or maybe even a healing. God could come through and answer your prayer tonight and work on your behalf while you are asleep, but even if he does not, be patient. Think about everytime God told you to cut someone out of your life and you couldn’t do it because it was hard for you and you expected God to be patient and wait on you. Didn’t he wait? I can’t tell you when God will answer your prayer but I can tell you that he will come through with an answer. I can’t even promise you that you will like the answer but I can promise he is working everything for your good. I can’t tell you why God is making you wait, but I can promise you he will step in at just the right time. So the next time God is making you wait, remember all those years he was waiting on you to even acknowledge him, yet he still kept you.

The Moment I Knew, I Was In Love…..

This blog post is going to be another personal one as I am sure you guys can tell by the topic. This post is all about the moment I really knew I was in love with God. Why is it that most people only skim the surface of God’s love? They never really go deep enough in him to get all he has for them. We put some much of our trust time and attention into these earthly people who will surely fail us. It seems many of us search for a lifetime in all the wrong places just looking for a love that God is freely willing to give. I am also guilty of this myself. When I was younger, I never felt complete. I needed love and attention from a man to make me feel loved or whole. But the one thing I kept noticing is that they kept failing me, they kept falling short of what I expected to be. The love I was looking for they could never seem to provide. They always fell short because I was giving them a task that only God could take on.

Once God saw I couldn’t get the hint myself, he isolated me. Isolated me from men and all these men that didnt mean me any good. Did you know that God can isolate you when he feels you are becoming too dependent on people? He did this to me and in the beginning I hated it. You know what this forced me to do? This isolation forced me to depend on God because he stripped me of all those people and things I was putting before him. During this time, I have grown so close to God and relinquished my dependence on people. Not saying that I don’t have friends and that I don’t enjoy being around people because I do, but God is first place. He has truly become the head of my life. I go to him about anything first. I don’t seek many outside options on my life or decisions because I van go straight to the source that created me and knows my destiny. No matter what I do or don’t do, he will never leave me or see me go without. He controls every single bird in the air and not one of them falls without his consent so I know he will provide for me.  Knowing all this, how could I not fall in love with God? It took one day for me to realize that I had been in love this whole time and never knew it.

The moment I realized I had fallen in love was the day I chose to start giving up things I loved because I knew they were not of God and they threatened my walk with him. When your significant other asks you not to do something because it is hindering your relationship, you do it usually quickly because you don’t want to lose thing person. Why can’t we do this for God? What is God asking you to give up? Not saying it will be easy to give these things up, but it will be worth it. Anything that we give up for God, he will always replace with something much better than we imagined! I chose to give up secular music. God had been dealing with me about this for some time but I didn’t want to do it. It was almost as if I was in love with this music more than God. One day I decided enough is enough. I chose God over my own fleshly desires. The day that put the icing on the cake, was one day when I met a man that seemed to have all the qualities I was looking for. The only thing he was missing, was a love in his heart for God. At that time I had to make a choice. I had to decide if my own personal desires for a mate, would outweigh my desire to be close with God. Do I even have to tell you that I chose God??

At that moment, it hit me that this whole time I had been in love and I didn’t even know. I decided then that if any relationship meant sabotaging the one I had with God I did not want it. Once you fall in love with God nothing else really matters as much. The love I was looking for, was there the whole time, I just had to open my eyes and my heart, and accept it.

If You Leave Now, You’ll Miss The Best Part!

Have you ever been watching a movie and it got to the best part where the girl was running from the killer and you just knew she was about to get caught, and then suddenly your phone rings? You decide to answer the phone call and by the time you are able to get back to the movie the credits are rolling and you never saw if the girl actually died or not and now you realize you should’ve waited instead of walking away and taking that call. Well that’s exactly how I feel right now about certain things in life. Have you ever felt like giving up but you knew you were so close to your breakthrough that you could taste it? Lately I’ve wanted to quit some things, I’ve wanted to say a lot of things but I hear God saying, “hold on”. I know that if I leave that situation now, I’ll miss the best part. I’ll miss the moment God steps in and works and miracle. I’ll miss the time when he moves on my behalf and completely turns my situation around. Sometimes this waiting period is only a taste. Many of us wonder why we end up taking the same tests over and over. You are taking the test again because you quit on it last time. So I’m here to encourage you to hold on! Just wait a few more seconds and watch what will happen. God is about to turn everything around in your favor and fix that problem you’ve been praying about for months. Everyone wants the miracle but no one wants the bad situation you have to be put it for the miracle to occur. Think about what God did for Daniel in the lion’s den. In order for God to shut the mouths of the hungry lions’, first Daniel had to be thrown in there. So if you take anything away from this post I want it to be that you need to hold on. I promise you don’t want to miss what God is about to do.

Spiritual Warfare is REAL!

I’ve been meaning to do a post on this for some time but I’ve just been putting it off. I had to speak on this topic but I’m not sure many people believe in it or truly understand the seriousness of it. Spiritual warfare is alive and well and we are not really fighting the battle the way we should. Are you feeling conflicted about some things in your spirit? Do you not have peace in your mind or in your home? Chances are this is a result of spiritual warfare. Are you willfully committing sin over and over again when you know better? Are you listening to secular music all day? Are you spending basically all your time with people who don’t really honor God with their life? Spirits are real! Even in the Bible we are told that we did not come to fight flesh and blood. Are you having premarital sex? Do you realize you are exchanging spirits with this person and that you are taking on their characteristics? Are you unequally yoked with someone who is a nonbeliever? Maybe you’ve had a child with them and you wonder why it’s not peace in your home or just your life in general. The reason is simple, good and evil are Waring against each other, and until you get rid of those evil spirits, you will not have the peace and blessings you are looking for. I’m not saying to never commit a sin or don’t even speak to someone that is not Christ like but I am saying, guard your heart. I’m not saying you should never listen to any R&B or rap or that you should condemn yourself if you have a slip up in your celibacy walk but I am saying if you leave a open gap, the devil will come in. Plenty of people are out here everyday Waring in their minds with these spirits, trying to do right but these demons in their mind keep attacking them. With knowing this fact, I say treat everyone kind, you never know when their negative demons could rise up and overtake them. Also, be careful who you are talking to, associating with, and definitely who you are allowing to lay hands on you. Just because someone says they are a believer, does not mean they have good intentions. Always remember that it is much better to be alone than in corrupt company. Try to purify your home and your mind and guard yourself against these evil spirits. God cannot speak clearly to you or freely move in chaos.

In ALL Things Give Thanks!

I always gain these life lessons in the oddest places. Yesterday I went to target with my son to pick up some groceries. While inside of course he decided he wanted a toy. Most of the time I give into these requests and let him get a small toy. But yesterday my son said he wanted a BIG toy. The toy he wanted was over 30 dollars and I hadn’t come prepared to buy a toy that was so expensive yesterday so I explained to him he could still have a little toy but not the big one. Of course he didn’t like this so he started to cry. This made me think to myself, how many times do we do this to God?

We pray for what we think is this huge blessing like that job you wanted in another state that payed six figures. But, God blesses us with a job somewhere else that has less pay. How many times do we get mad at God for not getting the BIG thing? Did we ever take into consideration if the big thing is really as big as it looks on the outside. God can see the end results of every situation and our entire lives. He knows, what will really be best for us and nine times out of ten its not the thing we really want. Just like yesterday I knew my son had a million toys at home already and Christmas will be here before I know it.  I looked at the big picture but he only knew he wanted the BIG toy now.

Never take the small things for granted. The small things are what really matter and shape us. If you are never a good steward over the small things how can God ever trust you with more. If my son broke every toy I bought, I would have more reason to not buy him bigger toys but since I know this is not the case, I will probably take him back this weekend and get him the big toy. I saw a man today with one arm but he was carrying a ladder on his way to do a painting job. I looked and him and thought wow. I whispered to myself thank you God for letting my have two arms to use. How many of us view something like this as a small thing? Sure its a small thing until it’s gone, then we see how big of a blessing that really was.

Once we got in the car, I promised my son, I would bring him back this weekend for the big toy since he stopped crying and happily took home the small toy. I also took that time to teach him a  life lesson. I told him to be thankful for everything he gets, big or small because someone out there is not getting anything at all. I say all of this to say, in ALL things give thanks. In things big or small. In things good or bad. Thank God always because he will always meet your needs and bless you in the right season. Many times he may not give us the big blessing because we keep sulking over the blessing that we think is too small. Learn to be a good steward over what God has given you so that he can entrust you with more. Remember, everything seems small until we no longer have it.

Is This God’s Plan or Your Plan??

This weekend I was in Atlanta Georgia and I got the chance to visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Site. It was simply amazing to me. It made me realize so many things we take for granted in this world and how much of a difference Dr. King really made. He basically gave up his whole life in order to advance the world and his race. This concept got me thinking. Many of us devote our whole lives to advancing ourselves. We think about climbing the corporate ladder, starting our own family, and raising our own children. We get our degrees and good jobs and try to become rich or at lease comfortable.

Knowing all this, it makes you think, are we following God’s will for our lives or our own? Has God told you to do these things or to follow this plan you are on, or is this your plan? Most of us aren’t thinking about others. We have this “self made” attitude and we could care less about anyone else. During my visit to the memorial I almost felt selfish. A movie was shown of Dr. King’s final speech before he died. He spoke about what he would want said at his funeral when that time came. He went on to say, not to tell people about all the degrees he had gotten or prizes he won, because really that did not matter. He wanted people know in his dying hour that he gave his life to serving others. He tried to get justice, he tried to clothe the naked, and feed the hungry. Dr. King said these were the important things. Think about how selfless this was?

How many of us would put down our own dreams and follow that plan God has for our lives? Many of us are missing our destiny because we are trying to follow our plan and not letting God have his way in our lives. Dr. King’s life may have been cut short, but look at all that came from this tragedy. I really don’t think he was disappointed about leaving this world early because he did everything God has planned for him and more. I’m sure he had personal goals his self. I am sure he wanted to spend more time with his kids than he was able to, but he put all those selfish things aside to fulfill God’s plan for his life. Even when he spoke of his funeral, all he wanted people to know, was how much he did to help others. With this attitude, he still got fame and notoriety, he still had an abundance of finances. All the things we aspire to have from chasing our personal goals, he got while serving others.

I say all this so that we can inspect ourselves. We need stop being so selfish and start doing God’s work. God will always reward you for following his plan and doing the work for his people. And even though, his untimely death looked like a disappointment,  he made so many beautiful changes in this world. God’s planned prevailed. Personally I am trying everyday to be less selfish and follow God’s plan for my life and I suggest you do the same. Who knows what beautiful places his plans will lead you to. Will you put yourself aside and truth him?

Don’t Worry, It’s Not Your Fault…

Have you ever had someone stop liking you for no reason at all? I mean you haven’t done anything to them or y’all had a brief misunderstanding and every since then, they act cold towards you? I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me in life. I would have an old friend that turned against me for basically no reason at all. A co worker fall out with me for nothing or even an ex boyfriend just turn against me. I remember back in the day, I used to think it was something I was doing wrong to make these people turn on me. I used to think that people and things that came into your life were supposed to stay forever but that’s simply not the case. I wish somebody would have taught me this lesson sooner. The same God that opens doors, can also close those same doors. Sometimes God can move an old friend out of your life because they can’t go where he is about to take you. So when people turn against you for no reason at all, please don’t worry about it, it’s not your fault. If you know you haven’t done anything wrong to the person, wish them well, pray for them, and understand their part in your life is over. Just get ready because God is about to elevate you. Don’t let the enemy fill you with fear and make you think you will never find a new friend or a new job or that you’re the one that’s wrong. This is the farthest thing from the trust. God will never take anything from you, without replacing it with something better. Many times the betrayal will bless you. God will use one negative person to promote you and get you to reach to the next level. In reality, very few people or things in your life come to stay forever. They come for a season, teach you a lesson and move on. Be sure not to get stuck worrying about this. Get the lesson and know you did nothing wrong. Be sure to fully understand what God was trying to teach you in that season, so when God is ready to elevate you to the next level, you are fully prepared. Many times God is ready to bless us but he is just waiting on you. So when the hate or betrayal comes, don’t worry about it. Just get prepared because your elevation is here.

No Sins? Then Throw Your Stones!

Why do people feel the need to call out the sins of others? Does it make us feel better or do we think we are helping them? I agree that its good to help others and try to put them on the right path if you see them going the wrong way but you should not be purposely looking for a reason to call out someone’s sin. Many so called “Christians” are so ready to point out your sins and shun you away because they don’t want any part of that. But think about this, how can you save souls if you turn away everyone who needs saving? The Bible tells us, Jesus was married to the backslider. By no means am I saying you should be luke warm but you should be lifting up the sinner not condemning them. As the caption for this week says, worry about your own sins. When you stand before God you will give an account for the things YOU did, not anyone else. In the Bible when we see a woman about to get stoned for sin, Jesus tells the crowd let the person without any sin, throw the first stone. No one could throw one because we are all sinning and falling short of God’s glory daily! Yet God’s mercy is still keeping all of us. While you are busy pointing out someone else’s sin, you probably missed a few sins you just committed that you didn’t even know about. Be very mindful of doing this because you could ruin your witness and we never want to turn anyone away from God. This post hit my spirit over the weekend because of an inbox someone sent me on Facebook. I posted a picture of me in a dress with a caption that read, “I might have him selling his soul for me”. Most people know these are only song lyrics but apparently someone missed the note. The person that inboxed me told me that they thought I was a Christian, and why would I want someone to sell their soul for me. I explained to the person that it was not that deep and they took the post out of context. You can never judge anyone’s relationship with God by what they put on social media. You don’t know the love they have for God in their hearts. Most of these people are sitting around waiting to condemn you when you do the first thing they don’t like or that they feel a Christian shouldn’t do. Don’t let people like this bother you. If God didn’t want you to do something, he would convict your spirit about it. He would not send anyone to condemn you about your actions. This person probably committed ten sins of their own that day but felt the need to speak on me. I know God is preparing me for something greater so critics come with the territory. The more attention you attract, the more critics you will have. When I reach the best sellers list, imagine how many people will be critiquing my work. I had to make this post to encourage you guys and let you know that you should ignore people that purposely try to point out your faults or what they believe to be faults. On judgement day, you will give and account for everything YOU do and YOU say. So that means you need to worry about YOU! Run your race and do what God is telling you to do! At the end of the day, God deals with all of us differently and no one can tell you how you feel about God. Sweep around your own front door and try to keep it as clean as possible. Of course you should make it your business to help others and try to save souls but just be sure you are convicting spirits and not condemning others. We do not need another savior, Jesus already died to save us all. Run your race and save as many souls as you can but do not get consumed with the sins of others, you won’t be asked about them, they will!
